In Victoria all stations have vending machines for the Metropolitan network. You can get V line tickets for country trains at premium stations, the main suburban ones which are manned all day. In a small country town with an un-manned station you can get on the train and buy a ticket from the conductor. Many V line services require you to reserve a seat in advance, so it is best to either get your ticket in advance, either at a station, or on the net.
